Our Story
Foodring was born from a deep love for cooking... and a flood of private messages.
In 2020, Mary — a food lover and Jon’s wife — decided to start a small ready-to-eat business from home. Each week, she would post her menu, take orders by text, phone, or direct messaging, prepare the meals, and deliver them to a few drop-off points in her community.Word-of-mouth worked. Orders poured in. But very quickly, reality set in: the operational workload was overwhelming. Creating and publishing weekly menus, managing orders, handling payments, calculating quantities... Mary was spending more time organizing than cooking.Jon, with a strong background in tech and automation, built a first system using Google Sheets and Google Forms to centralize orders and automate calculations. The time saved was impressive. That was the spark.Jon joined forces with his brother Julien — also a developer and entrepreneur at heart — to transform that homemade solution into a real web platform. They brought in Mathieu, a longtime friend and former colleague from a previous startup, to complete the team. Together, they launched Foodring, a platform designed by and for home food sellers.
A Hidden but Thriving Economy
The three founders started digging into the market: they explored Facebook Marketplace... and discovered hundreds of cooks like Mary. People selling homemade food to their community, with no proper tools — many giving up because of the exhausting logistics.
Foodring wasn’t born out of thin air. It’s a real solution to a real need.
They quickly launched an initial version of the tool — functional and ready to use. But spreading the word wasn’t easy. They realized they weren’t just building a platform, they were telling a story: the story of an alternative economy, one that’s accessible, human, and ideal for newcomers or passionate cooks who want to make a living from their food — without opening a restaurant.
A Human Team, Driven by Its Mission
After some highs and lows, a turning point arrived: Katharina joined the team. With her strong operational mindset, creative energy, and talent for design and branding, she brought new life to the project. Foodring entered a new phase.
What We’re Building Together
Foodring is much more than a tool. It’s a social project.
We believe that thousands of people like Mary deserve better than DMs, Excel sheets, and sleepless nights. We believe we can build a new kind of food economy — more local, more human, more sustainable.
And most of all, we believe it’s time to empower those who cook with love — for their families, their communities… and now, to make a living from their passion.
